What inspired you to start GradeBuilder?

The idea for GradeBuilder came from my own struggles with learning due to ADHD. Growing up, I found it incredibly challenging to stay focused, and the hyperactivity component made traditional education feel almost impossible. Despite these challenges, I was determined to enter the IT field, inspired by my parents, who were both programmers.

Through years of trial and error, I created a learning system tailored to my needs, which eventually helped me become a software quality engineer at the age of 40. The process was not just about acquiring technical skills but about understanding how to learn effectively despite my differences. This experience made me realize the profound impact that the right support and tools could have on individuals like me.

With that in mind, I launched GradeBuilder—a platform designed to help people with ADHD and other focus challenges access IT education in a way that works for them. My mission is to change the narrative around learning difficulties and show that success is possible for everyone.

What sets GradeBuilder apart from other educational platforms?

GradeBuilder is not just another IT education platform; it’s a place built with empathy and understanding for neurodivergent learners. Our approach combines cutting-edge technology with a deep commitment to inclusivity. One of the most distinctive features is our collaboration with a psychiatrist specializing in neurodivergence, who helps us adapt our programs to meet the unique needs of our students.

We’re also developing a fully personalized learning experience powered by AI. This platform will guide students through their educational journey, offering tailored content and emotional support. For people with ADHD, the emotional component is often as critical as the educational one, and our virtual mentor provides both. This holistic approach ensures that students not only learn but also feel supported and understood every step of the way.

How did you build your team and find co-founders?

Building the team for GradeBuilder was an organic process. I don’t actively search for people; I prefer when they come to me with a genuine desire to contribute. That’s exactly how it happened with my co-founders. Each of them approached me at different stages of the project, saying, “I love what you’re doing, and I know how I can help.”

Thanks to this serendipitous approach, we now have an exceptional team that includes an AI specialist, a talented CTO, and a dedicated psychiatrist. Their diverse expertise has been instrumental in bringing GradeBuilder’s vision to life.

Can you share some insights into the trends shaping inclusive education and your industry?

The landscape of education is evolving rapidly, with virtual mentors becoming an integral part of learning platforms. However, in the realm of inclusive education, the shift is even more profound. Globally, the recognition and prevalence of neurodivergence, including ADHD, are increasing. Experts predict that within a decade, ADHD will be viewed not as a difference but as a variant of the norm.

This paradigm shift means that inclusive education will no longer be a niche market—it will become the standard. At GradeBuilder, we’re not just adapting to these changes; we’re striving to lead the way. Our goal is to set a benchmark for inclusive education globally, creating a model that others can follow.

How did you approach customer development and understand your audience’s needs?

We invested nearly a year in deep customer research, combining quantitative and qualitative methods. Our team conducted interviews and surveys with over 1,500 individuals, many of whom are neurodivergent. These conversations provided us with firsthand insights into the challenges they face in education, particularly in IT.

Additionally, we examined global psychiatric and educational literature to build a foundation for our platform. Although research on adult neurodivergence is still limited, we used every available resource to inform our approach. A key player in our efforts was Dr. Alisa Gorshkova, a psychiatrist specializing in neurodivergence, who worked closely with our team to ensure our courses met the specific needs of our audience.

This comprehensive research, combined with community engagement, has allowed us to design GradeBuilder with a clear understanding of the barriers neurodivergent learners face and how to overcome them.

What’s next for GradeBuilder?

Our immediate focus is on launching the personalized AI-powered platform and scaling our impact globally. In the long term, we aim to redefine what inclusive education looks like, making it accessible, effective, and emotionally supportive for everyone. Ultimately, our goal is to show the world that learning differences are not limitations—they’re opportunities for innovation and growth.
