It all started seven years ago during a visit to an old friend in Bulgaria. We were snowed in at a hotel in the mountains, and during our stay, my friend shared the struggles faced by many hoteliers. High commissions from booking platforms, price parity restrictions, and delayed payments created an environment where hoteliers felt trapped.
One of the most striking challenges was price parity—the inability to offer different prices on their own websites or at the front desk. This made it impossible for hoteliers to adjust their pricing based on demand or availability. Hearing these frustrations, I realized there was an opportunity to create a platform that empowers hoteliers instead of restricting them.
That’s how Your Price Booking was born: a service free from price parity, with direct payments and a feature that allows hoteliers to connect directly with travelers searching for accommodation nearby.
Your Price Booking stands out by addressing the core pain points faced by hoteliers. First, we do not impose price parity, giving hoteliers the flexibility to set their prices as they see fit. Second, payments go directly to the hotelier, ensuring faster cash flow and eliminating the delays common with other platforms.
One of our most innovative features allows hoteliers to see travelers searching for accommodations near their property. They can then send personalized offers with prices, descriptions, photos, and videos directly to these travelers. This approach not only helps hoteliers fill vacancies but also builds a direct connection between them and their guests.
We’ve had both positive and challenging feedback. Some argue that price parity creates a level playing field and ensures fair competition. However, we believe this practice is overly restrictive and limits the ability of hoteliers to respond to market demand.
These differing opinions have been valuable in refining our approach. They remind us of the importance of balancing flexibility for hoteliers with a seamless booking experience for travelers.
Sure! I’m excited to share a bit about the team behind our startup. I co-founded the company with Alex Rosli, who is also our CTO. Alex is a brilliant technical mind with years of experience in developing scalable tech solutions. He’s not just our tech lead but also the driving force behind building the platform’s architecture and ensuring its stability and performance as we grow.
There’s a clear trend toward direct bookings. Both hoteliers and travelers are looking for ways to avoid the high commissions charged by aggregators. Guests also increasingly demand transparency—they want accurate descriptions, honest reviews, and better communication with hosts.
Economic instability is another factor pushing hoteliers to adapt their strategies. Platforms like ours, which offer greater flexibility and direct connections, are well-positioned to address these evolving needs.
We conducted extensive customer development interviews through in-person meetings, phone calls, and online surveys. We spoke with hoteliers across various categories to understand their pain points and experiences with existing booking platforms.
In addition, we reviewed feedback from travelers to ensure our platform meets the needs of both sides. This research was instrumental in creating a solution tailored to the market’s real challenges.
We’re in the final stages of development, despite the setbacks caused by the war in Ukraine. Our priority is to launch the platform fully and begin building a community of hoteliers and travelers who value fairness, transparency, and flexibility.
In the long term, we aim to redefine the online booking industry by setting a new standard for how hotels and travelers connect. We believe in a future where hoteliers have more control over their business, and travelers enjoy better booking experiences.
