What inspired you to build Doctorina?

The idea came from real pain points. Years ago, I worked with children diagnosed with rare neuromuscular diseases like SMA and Duchenne in countries where healthcare systems are severely underdeveloped. Families often knew more about the disease than the doctors treating their children. I personally witnessed 14 preventable deaths in a single year—all caused by medical advice that ignored the course of spinal muscular atrophy. That level of tragedy stays with you.

But this problem isn’t limited to rare diseases or underdeveloped countries. Cancer, cardiology, chronic illnesses—millions of patients worldwide face the same struggle. They lack access to the right knowledge at the right time. My mom’s cancer was misdiagnosed for six months in Germany, simply because a doctor misinterpreted her symptoms. By the time they realized, she had pleural metastases. If only someone had suggested a CT scan earlier, the outcome could have been different.

Doctorina is our attempt to fix that. A real AI doctor that doesn’t hallucinate, doesn’t waste time, and offers structured, guided consultations that replicate how a real doctor would walk you through your symptoms. The goal is simple: make accurate, affordable medical consultations accessible to everyone, everywhere.

What is Doctorina, and how does it work?

Doctorina is a structured AI doctor designed to replicate the full flow of a real medical consultation. It doesn’t just return search results—it engages with patients the way a general practitioner would: asking follow-up questions, gathering medical history, testing diagnostic hypotheses, and offering guidance based on established clinical protocols.

It’s not “just ChatGPT with a stethoscope.” While we use large language models (LLMs) as tools, Doctorina itself is the doctor. We've built a multi-agent system around the LLM, developed in collaboration with medical experts to ensure clinical depth and precision. We’re not building another symptom checker—we’re building a system that understands context, asks the right questions, and guides patients through complex health journeys, from initial concerns to actionable next steps.

The current beta version is already helping users navigate their symptoms with meaningful, medically grounded interactions. Instead of static answers, Doctorina provides an adaptive dialogue—guiding users step-by-step toward clarity, next steps, and better health decisions.

What problem are you solving, and how big is it?

Three major problems shaped Doctorina. First, volume: doctors simply can’t keep up with the number of patient inquiries, especially in under-resourced regions. Second, there are significant knowledge gaps—even experienced doctors can miss red flags if they're working with outdated guidelines or have limited exposure to rare or complex conditions. And third, we can’t ignore the cognitive limits of human practitioners. Doctors are incredible, but human memory and attention have natural boundaries. That’s where structured AI really shines.

The scale of this problem is enormous. Over 4 billion people around the world lack access to essential healthcare. In many places, people turn to YouTube or Google to self-diagnose—but they don’t always know what to search for, and the information they find can be inaccurate or overwhelming. My co-founder, Dr. Hanna Plotnitskaya, saw this reality up close while running charitable clinics in Guatemala and Nicaragua. People weren’t just underserved—they were completely out of reach of timely, informed medical advice.

But this isn't just a problem in lower-income regions. Even in Germany, where I live now, it can take months to see a specialist—even if you have private insurance. The issue is universal: no matter how developed the healthcare system, there’s simply not enough capacity to meet the demand.

And the numbers reflect that. Over 100 million people fall into poverty each year due to healthcare costs. A global shortage of 15 million doctors is projected by 2030. There are more than 425 million health-related Google searches every single day. All of this points to the same urgent truth—people are desperate for trusted, timely medical answers. With Doctorina, we’re building a solution to meet that demand.

BelTech: Going Global
How did you meet your co-founders?

All of us have worked together for years in healthcare and tech. Hanna Plotnitskaya, our Chief Medical Director, and I led charitable projects together—ranging from rare disease support to mobile clinics in underserved regions.

Yury Melnichek, who leads engineering and is also an investor, supported one of our nonprofit initiatives years ago. His experience scaling tech products was crucial in turning this idea into something real.

Alexander Seletskiy, our COO, joined the team after collaborating with Yury on other projects. When the opportunity to build Doctorina came up, he jumped in immediately. It’s a team built on trust, deep domain knowledge, and shared purpose.

What’s your business model?

Our main revenue stream is B2C subscriptions. Users get one free consultation per day, and additional ones through a paid plan. In year one of full launch, we project $50M in revenue with 10M paying users.

We’re also building B2B SaaS for hospitals, insurers, and telemedicine providers (we already have interest from Singapore and the Philippines) and Pharma & Research partnerships to ethically share anonymized insights for clinical trials and drug development.

How do you plan to make Doctorina accessible across different languages, regions, and healthcare systems globally?

Doctorina is built as a global-first solution with accessibility at its core. Our AI architecture includes a dedicated Translator Agent, enabling seamless multilingual support. This ensures users from diverse regions can access high-quality health insights in their native language. In addition, the system is designed to operate with minimal infrastructure, making it ideal for low-resource environments with limited internet or healthcare access. We are also engaging with local regulatory and healthcare stakeholders to ensure compliance and relevance within regional healthcare frameworks.

What’s one lesson you’ve learned as a founder?

Perfectionism kills momentum. We were tempted to keep polishing the product before releasing it, but I realized—it’s better to get something working into people’s hands and learn from real feedback. Even now, every user interaction improves Doctorina. If you wait until it’s perfect, you’ll never launch.

If you could start over, would you do anything differently?

Honestly, no. Every challenge taught us something we needed to know. We’ve made mistakes, sure—but they were essential to building something truly meaningful.

What is the future vision for Doctorina?

Our goal is to build the world’s most accurate and scalable AI-powered telemedicine platform. The current beta already provides structured consultations, helps users understand their symptoms, and offers clear next steps—essentially acting like a GP in your pocket, especially for those without access to care.

Next, we’re expanding into a full-stack health ecosystem that includes appointment scheduling, prescriptions, chronic care coordination, clinical trial matching, and more. We’re building solutions for both individual users and enterprise clients like hospitals and insurers. There’s already strong demand from markets like Singapore and the Philippines, and we’re also working toward medical device licensing to ensure regulatory compliance as we scale.

What key improvements or features can users expect in the next 6 months?

Over the next six months, we’re rolling out a series of significant upgrades that will make Doctorina more intelligent, more human, and more effective in supporting real-world healthcare journeys.

We’re introducing the ability for users to upload files like lab results and images, enabling real-time analysis that adds more depth and precision to each consultation. Doctorina will also begin tracking medical history, remembering past interactions, diagnoses, and conditions to offer more personalized follow-up and predictive insights.

To improve accessibility and ease of use, we’re adding voice messaging—so users can simply talk to Doctorina instead of typing. This is especially useful for users with low literacy or visual impairments. We’re also launching WhatsApp and Telegram integrations, making it easy for people to consult Doctorina on the platforms they already use every day.

For users in underserved or low-bandwidth areas, we’re optimizing the platform to work offline or in limited connectivity environments. And to make Doctorina truly global, we’re adding localization features to support multiple languages and adapt to regional healthcare standards.

One of the most exciting developments is the explainability layer. Every recommendation Doctorina provides will be backed by clear, human-readable explanations. This transparency builds trust and helps users truly understand their health and their next steps.

Have you had any experience raising capital for Doctorina or any of your past projects? Do you plan to raise funds for Doctorina, what are your goals for that round?

Yes, our founding team has extensive experience raising capital, including successful exits to Google, Pinterest, and VK through ventures like AIMATTER, VOCHI, and MAPS.ME. For Doctorina, we’ve already secured €260K in early funding, which allowed us to build our proprietary AI technology and launch the first beta version of the product. We are now raising €2M at a €10M post-money valuation to launch and scale our web and mobile product, grow user acquisition, and establish regulatory and partnership infrastructure. We’re looking for mission-aligned investors—those with a strong interest in healthtech, AI, or global impact—who believe that access to medical knowledge should be a universal right, not a luxury.

Finally — why do you do this work?

Because I’ve seen too many people die when they didn’t have to. Because I lost time I can never get back managing a system that should’ve helped but didn’t. And because we have the tools now to fix it.

Doctorina isn’t a product—it’s a necessity. If we can put accurate, affordable, real medical advice into everyone’s hands, we change the future of healthcare.
